Wounded Tiger Released.

After a few delays, Wounded Tiger is now released in paperback, hardcover, and in nearly every ebook format as well. To order, please go here.

Nine years of research, script writing, interviews, book writing and revising, and hundreds of reviews and critiques went into this effort and now Wounded Tiger is released and shipping. At the same time, there are developments progressing on the film side of this project. To stay up to date on the progress, you can opt in to the Wounded Tiger Insiders here. I hope this amazing true story is as much of an inspiration and encouragement to you as it has been to me.

A lot's been happening lately but I haven't had much time, so here's the latest:

• Wounded Tiger is now up for order at www.WoundedTigerBook.com. Final artwork for the book shown below.
• I posted an article at ReadWave, entitled, "Were the Japanese Crazy?" You can see it here or click on the picture of the article below.
• Wounded Tiger will be released in March, 2014. All information regarding the book will be found at the website listed above.

Wounded Tiger Exceeds Goal on Kickstarter ...

The Kickstarter campaign to fund the launch and marketing of Wounded Tiger ended June 30 and was successful. I'll be working with a top editor on a final polish on the book manuscript for the fall release. Those interested in keeping up to date on the book or film can sign up for the Wounded Tiger Insider updates.

The Wounded Tiger Book Project went live on Kickstarter June 1 and will run through June 30. You can preorder the book and more. Please check it out and be sure to watch the 1940's video. You'll get a kick out of it!  - Martin

51st Anniversary of The Doolittle Raid

51 years ago, April 18, 1942, a young man filled with rage named Jake DeShazer, sat in the nose of a B-25 bomber and dropped incendiaries on a refindery in Nagoya, Japan as part of The Doolittle Raid - a revenge mission for the Pearl Harbor attack. In "Wounded Tiger" I explain how this raid killed the fiance of a young lady who would later seek to meet Jake DeShazer for one reason - to kill him as well ... The book will be available for presale in June, 2013.

The US Naval War College Just Posted my Article on Fuchida

Two years ago an article was published in the US Naval War College Review which accused Mitsuo Fuchida of egregious lies. I knew there was no truth in the article and eventually realized that if I didn't respond to this article with facts, no one would. So I wrote a response article and submitted it to the NWCR and they accepted it and published it here, entitled, "Parshall's 'Whoppers' Examined: Fact-Checking the Various Claims and Conlusions of Jonathan Parshall."

70th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid

April 18, 1942 - 70 years ago today, 16 planes took off on a mission over Japan - the Doolittle Raid. No one knew what would really happen. Jake DeShazer was one of those participating in the raid and his life ultimately had a huge impact on the Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor - Mitsuo Fuchida.

Jake went back to Japan with his wife and young child and at the bottom you'll see a photo of him with his former guard.

If the stories of Jake DeShazer, Mitsuo Fuchida, and the Covell families were fiction, it wouldn't be so great because it would be too far-fetched to believe. But it's a true story, and an amazing one that needs to be told. This is much of what Wounded Tiger is about. The book will be available later this year.

Although I have leads and an agent, I still have no book deal as of yet. I may start with self-publishing. This is a new version for the front cover I did yesterday ...

‎70 years ago today, Mitsuo Fuchida led the Attack on Pearl Harbor which began one of the bloodiest conflicts in human history, ending with the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. I thank God for the sacrifices of many for the peace and freedom we enjoy today in America.


Some years after the war Fuchida said, “We hate, and are hated in return, and then we hate more. I have participated in the cycle of hatred for much of my life. For the rest of my life I want to begin the cycle of love as often as I can in as many places as I can.”

Seventy years ago today, December 1, 1941, Emperor Hirohito made the ultimate decision for Japan to go to war with the United States. Six days later, the world would never be the same again. Six million members of the Japanese and America military would die, along with eighteen million civilians by the end of the Pacific War.

This scene of Hirohito is depicted in the opening chapter of "Wounded Tiger" and you can read the first five chapters of the book by clicking the link here. This is the extraordinary true story of Mitsuo Fuchida, the pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor, whose life was changed by an American  prisoner of Japan, and by a girl he never met.

Fuchida's daughter, Miyako, now 74, read the book and said, "I have read the complete book manuscript. He is a tiger. He was born in the year of the tiger. You describe his posture and behavior so well and precisely, I can feel my father's presence. I have no idea how the world accepts him today. Some will call him a villain, others will call him a proud warrior who found redemption. I will always admire his guts, his intellect, and his sincerity."

I've moved to Tucson, Arizona!

In case any live in AZ, I've packed up and for the time being will be living in Tucson and will head to Los Angeles as soon as I'm able. No book deal yet, but my agent and I are working on it.

No film funding either, but I've received encouraging correspondence from three investor contacts with huge potential. Also, the project is in the process of getting in front of a number of key film people as well. Sorry I can't mention names until we have something solid ... Stay tuned.

New Year's Update, January 1, 2011

It's been said that "luck" is when preparation meets opportunity. I don't believe in luck, but I do believe in preparations. After thousands of hours of work and preparations, I'm convinced 2011 will see new things begin to take shape in a way they haven't in the past. As of today, this is where things stand:

• The "Wounded Tiger" film project: I have ten or so people who are very interested in funding the project in one way or another, all of whom have the ability to bring a large amount of funding into the film, but none of whom have done so as of yet. One Hollywood studio offered to purchase the film script for a figure in the high sixes, but I wasn't interested as I would lose all ability to protect the integrity of the story. Some want to see the book in print first, which is understandable. And one group believes they will be able to assemble significant funding in the next month or so. We'll see ...
• The "Wounded Tiger" book: The manuscript is complete and I continue to receive helpful critiques (some even from Japan!) and make minor edits as I consider the best way to approach the right publishing companies - those with the vision and horsepower to do with the book what needs to be done. I also have ideas to convert the story into a graphic novel. Some very experienced people have offered to help me make connections and I'm grateful for how things are developing.

When I have solid news on either project that I'm allowed to disclose, I'll post it here. Until then, may each of you have a wonderful and productive 2011!

"Wounded Tiger" book is now complete.

The novelization of the screenplay into book form is complete and I'm seeking the right publisher.

Here are the first five chapters of "Wounded Tiger."

As of this week, after 3 1/2 years of work on the film script and another 18 months on just the book, the novelization of the story "Wounded Tiger" is now complete. That said, the manuscript will go into a phase of editing and polishing for about eight weeks, then onto the quest to find the right publisher.

Regarding raising funds for the film project, many of you know that if I were to sell the film script to a studio, I would then lose all ability to protect the integrity of the story, which I don't believe would be in the best interest of the film, so I have been in a process of cultivating those with an interest in this film project who also have the capacity to bring a substantial amount of capital into Hungry Kitty, LLC. As of now, there are six investors/investment houses/brokers who have expressed a keen interest in the project, all of whom can bring enough capital to ensure that I (Hungry Kitty, LLC) would retain creative control of the film. That's about as much as I can say on that front. Any news in this area will be posted here, so save the link if you'd like to stay informed, or "friend" me in Facebook.

First Draft of Script Translated into Japanese is Complete.

This was completed a few months ago and is in review. Two significant investment firms are looking into full funding of the film. More to be announced when a deal is in place ...

The first 92 pages of the script have been translated into Japanese and are being submitted to others for critique. This is an important step as it will help ensure both accuracy and allow native Japanese to read the script and point out any weaknesses or errors in the script. We will also be able to bring the script to potential Japanese investors.
